Investigation of Photo-Electrolytic Imaging.
Abstract
An investigation of the photo-electrolytic imaging process, covering approximately five years of internal effort, yielded a variety of image forming compositions, as well as considerable fundamental insight into electrically initiated polymerization, and the function of the photo-conductive layer in the overall process. The most significant factor affecting the speed of image formation proved to be the photoconductive layer. The expected amplification, or 'chain reaction,' occurring in aqueous monomer solutions, took place to a much lesser extent in coated emulsion layers. Choice of monomer used depended more on solubility in the emulsion layer than on monomer structure. (Author-PL)
