A Parametric Survey of the Xenon Electrodeless Arc Lamp

Abstract

The study treats an experimental survey of key observable properties of the high-pressure xenon electrodeless arc lamp in which performance characteristics and operating trends of the electrodeless arc lamp are described in terms of established operating parameters. The causes of inefficiency in lamp operation were examined and methods developed successfully for improving lamp performance. Data are given which demonstrate lamp operational efficiencies approaching the theoretical maximum. The principal observed cause of electrodeless arc lamp failure is described and techniques are presented for preventing lamp failures.
