Concurrent Compiling. Volume 2. The Parallel Execution of FORTRAN DO Loops

Abstract

Methods are given for the analysis of FORTRAN DO loops for parallel execution on asynchronous and synchronous multi-processors. Limitations of the analytic approach are discussed. Application of the methods to the ILLIAC-4 are described. A simulation process for deriving concurrency is given in two examples for which the analytic methods are inapplicable.
