Two Radar Techniques for Remote Measurement of Atmospheric Parameters.

Abstract

Progress at Stanford on two methods of remote measurement of atmospheric parameters is reported. Meteor trail radar sets have been operated at Stanford University and Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, to measure upper atmosphere wind and density in the height region between 80 and 110 km. An experimental Radio Acoustic Sounding System has been constructed which is capable of measuring temperature profiles in the lower atmosphere, up to an altitude of one kilometer. (Author)
