Methods of Collection and Investigation of Suspensions for Geological Purposes (Metody Sbora i Issledovaniya Vodnoi Vzvesi dlya Geologicheskikh Tselei),

Abstract

Various methods used in the collection and analysis of suspensions in ocean water are analyzed. Both quantitative and qualitative investigations and the appraisal of data, by using optical sedimentation and filtration methods are discussed. In addition, laboratorial studies in the quantitative distribution and qualitative composition of suspensions are evaluated. The methods used by Soviet oceanographers are compared with those of foreign oceanographers, pointing out their advantages and defects in dealing with the samples obtained in surface and bottom waters.
