Simultaneous Measurements of ELF-Atmospherics by Separate Stations.

Abstract

The present research program has been carried out to obtain more detailed information about the propagation phenomena and the origin of ELF-waves in the frequency range of the SCHUMANN-resonances, i. e. between 4 Hz and 24 Hz. Therefore, simultaneous measurements of both the magnetic and the electric fields have been performed by two almost identically equipped stations. One station is located near Kingston, R.I., U.S.A., and supervised by members of the University of Rhode Island, the other, operated by the author, is situated in Brannenburg/Munich, W-Germany. The results of these cooperative investigations will permit prediction of the state of the lower ionosphere and some types of Solar events. (Author)
