Electromagnetic Teeming and Treatment of Liquid Metal,

Abstract

The report deals with application of an electromagnetic field to control the teeming of liquid metal in casting and metallurgical operations, and the development of new processes of liquid metal treatment and its purification from gases, nonmetallic inclusions and impurities. Procedures for dosing liquid metal, automatically filling flasks on casting conveyors, filling molds under pressure, etc., are also described. Technological applications of electromagnetic engineering are preceded by a review of various electromagnetic devices, which have an electromagnetic effect on metallic melts with no contact.
