Most Frequent Defects and Maintenance of the Magnetic Tape Memory Devices,

Abstract

The large capacity, the precision and the high price of magnetic tape storage units (MTSU) require careful maintenance and particularly attentive handling of the magnetic tape. The article examines the most frequent defects which can arise in operating MTSU, their essence, the reasons causing them, the consequences and certain questions relating to the maintenance of the MTSU and the dynamic information carrier, the magnetic tape.
