Application of Integral Equations to the Problem of Stability of Cylindrical Shells Reinforced by Circular Ribbing in Nonuniform Stress Conditions,

Abstract

The author discusses the stability of a reinforced cylindrical shell under hoop and axial stresses that are variable along the generatrices, while considering the discrete nature of the arrangement of the ribs. In the general case, the ribs' arrangement is arbitrary, while their rigidity and the forces in them are not uniform. The problem reduces to finding the proper value of a uniform integral equation. In the case where hoop stresses are present, the integral equation is transformed into a symmetric one. The nuclei that the author determines for the discussed stability equations are examined in a concrete problem. (Author)
