The Nature of Impact Abrasive Wear,

Abstract

The authors developed a special method and created a laboratory installation for investigation of impact abrasive wear (occurring upon collision of metal surfaces when abrasives are placed between the surfaces). The essence of the method consists of testing a cylindrical specimen for wear by repeated impact against a layer of loose abrasive applied to the surface of a hardened anvil. Sand is generally used as the loose abrasive. The operation of the device is described. (Author)
