Guide-Curve Theory for Infinite-Film Spin-Wave Frequencies,

Abstract

It is shown explicity that the frequencies of small k, infinitefilm spin waves follows guide curves, which are simply the dispersion relations for pure magnetostatic modes (exchange constant D = O) with the internal field (H sub i replaced by (H sub i) + D(k squared). A previous result, that the magnetostatic-mode (D(k squared negligible) frequencies are independent of the pinning, apart from splitting at corssovers of the guide curves, is a special case of the general result. Two regions of linearity of omega as a function of the magnitude (k sub f) of the wave vector in the plane of the film exist, but have no practical consequences at present. (Author)
