Application of Systems Analysis to Urban Fire Protection

Abstract

The reported research falls into several areas. Two of these, concerned with the demand for fire protection, are incidence analysis which uses historical data to develop statistical forecasting models, that are useful for long-range planning; and origins of fire demand, which attempts to determine the causes of tremendous increase in demand and seeks to develop programs for the reduction of fire incidence. A third area of research is new technology, such as the feasibility of widespread use in residences of automatic devices which react to heat or smoke and signal an alarm.
