Sunspot Theory Based on Magneto-Fluid-Mechanic Turbulent Damping,

Abstract

Although the structure of the sun's photosphere can be described by a set of equations in which the mixing-length concept plays the fundamental role, all current sunspot theoreis are essentially magnetohydrostatic. The present paper uses recently obtained experimental and theoretical information on the influence of a magnetic field on the mixing length and solves the photospheric equations for sunspots of different effective temperatures.
