Standardized Job Control Language.

Abstract

The Standardized Job Control Language (SJCL) acts as the interface between a user's programs and an anonymous computing utility. Its purpose is to provide mechanisms which allow the user to direct the computing utility in a logical manner best suited to solving the processing problems posed by his programs. And it provides these capabilities in a manner which relies the user of any requirement for usage of computer-dependent specifications, as well as any concern for the difference in performance between several host computer systems. This report describes Phase II of the SJCL project consisting of the requirement of the semantic Model of SJCL (developed under Phase I) and the specification of a Syntactic Model. The report is divided into three major sections: Section 2 summarizes the project efforts; Section 3 offers detailed discussion of the work performed; Section 4 offers conclusions and recommendations.
