About Completeness of Selection, Quality, and Times of Finishing of Convolute Information in Systems of Current Information,

Abstract

The organizational and methodological aspects of transformation of the descending information flow within the framework of a discipline-oriented system are discussed. The existing methods of current information at the research and designing establishments were surveyed; a comparative analysis was made of the proportions of the main groups of sources, exhaustivity of selection, quality and times of delivery of contracted information service and the sci-tech information department of the leasing research institute of the industry. The findings suggest a considerable loss of topical information at the discipline-oriented service (73.4 percent) as compared with the loss at the research institute (8.4 percent). The results of an expert assessment of the quality of secondary documents are given. The average time lags in dissemination of the secondary documents by the service was 2.5 months. (Author)
