An Eigenvalue Problem for Elastic Contact with Finite Friction

Abstract

The frictional identation problem for an elastic half space is formulated in terms of a coupled pair of singular integral equations, leading to determination of adhesive boundary as an eigenvalue of Fredholm equation with positive kernel.
