A UNIVAC 1108 Program for Obtaining Rigorous Error Estimates for Approximate Solutions of Systems of Equations.

Abstract

A computer program for the UNIVAC 1108 is described which obtains rigorous interval error bounds for approximate solutions of finite systems of nonlinear equations. Since the coefficients of the original system may take on interval values, the error bounds obtained include the contributions of truncation error for Newton's method, round-off error, and possible errors in the coefficients of the given system of equations.
