Space-Time Missile Envelopes,
Abstract
The paper is concerned with improving the logical decision process in one-to-one encounters between bombers and interceptors. It presents a new approach to the problem of making fast predictions based on the use of missile space-time envelopes, which characterize more generally the extent of a missile's capability by combining geometrically the spatial and temporal aspects of the prediction problem. Empirical means of finding these envelopes are discussed, as well as the physical significance of this scheme for summarizing the results of simulation experiments. It has been shown that space-time envelopes can be used to make definite miss predictions; this feature has a useful potential as an indicator for evasive maneuvers. (Author)
