Synthesis and Properties of Carbon Chain Polymers (Sintez i Svoistva Tsepnykh Polimerov Ugleroda),

Abstract

A new allotropic modification of carbon, consisting of chains of two new crystalline forms -- polyine and cumulene, has been synthesized in a two stage process beginning with the oxidative polydehydro condensation of acetylene. The new substance differs from both graphite and diamond in having a higher heat capacity and a higher thermodynamic stability. Its molecular structure and properties are described. (Author)
