Test Plan for a Structural Integrity Investigation for the CH-46 AFT transmission Planetary Carrier Bearing Nut in Support of the Analytical Rework Program

Abstract

The CH-46D mishaps in 1967 and 1971 precipitated a contractor designed fix of the aft transmission planetary carrier bearing nut. This test plan proposes tests to determine if a mode of failure other than that assumed by the contractor could be present. Static and fatigue tests are proposed on both the original and modified versions.
