Factors in Organization Effectiveness

Abstract

The paper, in the field of organizational theory, deals with critical needs of organizations to cope with external stress and changes. The concept of 'competence' is analyzed into components--adaptability, reality-testing, identity, and integration. Each of these components is discussed. Data are presented from a project which had the objective of determining the contribution of each of the components of competence, and of competence as a whole, to organizational effectiveness.
