A Generalized Theory for Cyclic Plasticity.

Abstract

Non-linear constitutive relations for cyclic plastic deformation of metals are proposed along with criteria to determine the transition from elastic to plastic behavior. For a material initially homogeneous and isotropic, remaining homogeneous and isotropic during and after plastic deformation and whose elastic domain merely translates in stress-strain space, these relations require but one experimentally determined constant. For the three examples studied, analytic results are in good qualitative agreement with experimental results and in one example, quantitative agreement is good. (Author-PL)
