Transmitter Tube for Troposcatter Application.

Abstract

The program is directed toward further development and testing of the klystron amplifier. The prime purpose of that effort was to establish the design criteria for a high gain, high power amplifier operating in the 4.4 to 5.0 GHz range. The present program will extend the initial effort with the aim of improving and further productizing that design. During this report period, an extensive testing program was completed, the results of which are published here. Various cooling configurations are being studied to determine the most efficient and practical method of cooling the klystron and magnet. Design work on the simplified (one knob) tuning mechanism is in progress. Ninety percent of all parts for two developmental klystron amplifier tubes have been ordered. (Author)
