Drift of a Gyro Linear Acceleration Integrator Mounted on a Vibrating Base,

Abstract

Analysis of the effect of the displacement of gyro unit center of gravity on the dynamic behavior of a gyro integrator mounted on a vibrating base is given. It is assumed that the vibration amplitudes of the base are small and that both the friction at the suspension axes and the effects of a stabilizer maintaining the gimbals in normal positions are negligible. Expressions for integrator drift are derived, showing that vibrations of the base at frequencies approaching those of the nutations of the base can lead to considerable reading errors in the integrator.
