A Simple Wide Band OMNI-Directional Antenna

Abstract

A compact vertically polarized antenna design based on a parabolic reflector is described. The antenna maintains omni-directional patterns (to within plus or minus 1 dB) over a 33% band from 7.5 to 10.5 GHz. The measured gain at 8.5 GHz was 8.1 dB. A simple modification that converts the antenna to horizontal polarization is also described.
