Control System Design Using Lyapunov's Stability Theory,

Abstract

The report is a collection of the theories and techniques required to use the second mathod of Lyapunov as a control system design tool. The resulting procedure is quite general and can be used to synthesize regulator control system designs in a short period of time. An outline of the complete synthesis procedure is given to aid those unfamiliar with the method in its application. The procedure is used in the detailed desing of a rigid-body pitch-plane missile autopilot, to illustrate application of the theory and techniques involved. Methods are proposed that simplify problem formulation and performance index selection. The computational aspects of control law generation are discussed in detail and some guidelines are offered in the area of control law implementation. (Author)
