Multiple Asymptotic Expansions: An Application to Thin Plates,

Abstract

Double series are used to obtain a formal solution for the singular perturbation of an elliptic equation. The results are interpreted in terms of multiple asymptotic expansions and compared to results obtained by the two-variable technique for the same equation and associated boundary conditions. The particular equation selected describes bending of a thin plate under the combined action of normal and body forces in the middle plane of the plate. (Author)
