Further Development of Aluminum Alloy X7050

Abstract

Results of exposures of short-transverse specimens of X7050 plate in an inland industrial atmosphere and a seacoast atmosphere for up to 840 days were analyzed. An X7050-T7352 hand forging and two X7050-T736 die forgings were fabricated, and properties were compared with those of 7075-T6 and 7079-T6 forgings. Effects of isothermally aging X7050 plate at 300 F or 325 F and of preceding the age at 325 F by a pre-age at 250 F were determined.
