Optimal Parameters and Comparative Characteristics of Thrust Gap Bearings with Spiral Channels of Various Transverse Profiles,

Abstract

Self-pressurized gas bearings with spiral grooves have high operational characteristics. A study was made of the effect of the groove transverse profiles on the bearing characteristics. The application of special curvilinear coordinates made it possible to determine the gas layer friction without disregarding the pressure gradient in the direction of the relative velocity of the bearing plates.
