Foreign Motor Method Used for the Classification of the Oils of Various Groups,

Abstract

The method of testing on the Petter AV-1 engine makes it possible to differentiate oils with respect to their tendency toward the formation of deposits in the piston grooves and the clogging of piston rings with coke. The tests of various samples of Soviet oils with compositions of additives on the Petter AV-1 unit made it possible to appraise their motor qualities. The standard method JP 175/64 and the Petter AV-1 unit can be used for the classification of oils with compositions of oils with compositions of Soviet additives of the type heavy duty and series I.
