Analysis and Design of Automatic Gain Control Systems

Abstract

Linear feedback control theory is shown to be applicable to the analysis and design of Automatic Gain Control systems. Expressions are derived for the loop gain, and its influence in the regulation characteristics of the loop is shown. The frequency response of AGC loops is predicted and used to reshape transient and steady state response making use of conventional frequency response diagrams. A non-linear gain characteristic was derived generating no distortion (under certain assumptions), and the analytical expression of it was derived.
