Instrumentation for Studies of Solar XUV Radiation.

Abstract

The report describes the design, development and construction of grazing-incidence telemetering monochromators used in rocket experiments to obtain measurements of solar extreme ultraviolet and soft x-ray (xuv) radiation in the upper atmosphere. The report also discusses the intensity and wavelength calibration of these instruments to allow flight data to be converted to absolute values of solar radiation fluxes as a function of wavelength, and the laboratory calibration instrumentation used to obtain this information. Finally, the report discusses the field services and rocket launchings involving the flight instruments developed under this contract. (Author)
