Project BIG PAPA - Phase 3. Cellular Concrete Fragmentation Acceptors

Abstract

The objectives of the study were to determine the feasibility of using cellular concrete as a fragment-catching mechanism for acceptor blocks and, if feasible, to provide laboratory and field support for the design, calibration, inspection, and postshot evaluation of cellular concrete to be used in ten acceptor blocks subjected to fragments and barrier spalls from a munitions explosion.
