Dynamic Dust Measurements for MIDDLE GUST Event II.

Abstract

Several instrumentation systems were installed at the Crowley Test Site in Colorado to measure the dust lofting parameters associated with passage of the air blast from detonation of a 100-ton sphere of TNT. Dust density history at two elevations was measured with a microwave system. Dust cloud height growth was measured with a high speed camera system. Particle velocity was measured with impact plates. Initial and final positions of particles and mass lofting efficiency were measured by use of color coded beads. (Author)
