Study for Improved Tactical Packaging of Rifle Ammunition.

Abstract

The report is Phase 1 of a multi-phased research project to conceptualize and study alternative methods of packaging small arms ammunition for military use. The intent of the conceptualization phase of the effort presented in this report was to consider and to apply modern packaging techniques and materials to the small arms ammunition packaging area. The concepts presented are applicable to many aspects of the packaging spectrum. Since packaging can begin at an individual round level (clip level) or with larger units of ammunition, consideration is given to potential modification to the existing feed mechanism as well as to new methods of unit packaging, using existing feed techniques.
