Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Mechanism of Sealing with Application to Reciprocating Seals.

Abstract

The report covers the results obtained on a study program which was to experimentally and analytically delineate factors contributing to leakage past surfaces in sliding contact. An experimental facility was fabricated. A series of experimental tests were run to gather data on wear and prove the feasibility of using the facility to duplicate wear and sealing in reciprocating engines. (Author)
