A Numerical Study of the Lunar Tidal Oscillations in the Equatorial F Region.

Abstract

Using the time dependent continuity equation, the latitudinal and temporal variations of the low latitude lunar tidal oscillations are studied. Following the suggestion of Dunford and Lawden (1969), the lunar tide in the equatorial F region is described in terms of changes in the structure of the Appleton anomaly. The lunar-induced ionization changes are determined for the case of no neutral air winds as well as for various wind models. (Author)
