Polar Cap Bibliography,

Abstract

The Polar Cap Bibliography was compiled with the objective of providing information on the nature and extent of past and current polar cap research in the field of upper atmosphere phenomenology. The bibliography lists references to the literature on upper atmospheric phenomena in the polar caps grouped by subject with introductory summaries. The introductory summaries generally cover briefly the contents of the literature referenced for each subject. Sixty-eight subjects are covered with a total of 2,211 references in 385 pages, of which 134 pages contain the text of the introductory summaries. The eight major sections bear subject headings as follows: (1) Surveys and Summaries; (2) Atmospheric Structure; (3) Energy Inputs; (4) Energy Outputs; (5)Disturbance Phenomena; (6) Ionosphere; (7) Geophysical Effects Peculiar to Polar Cap Regions; and (8) Instrumentation and Measurement Systems.
