Research in Interaction of Coherent Light with Solids and with Turbulent Atmospheres.

Abstract

The report summarizes the objectives and results of research on propagation in random media conducted under the contract. The principal results include the numerical solution of the partial-differential equation for the fourth moment of a two-dimensional plane wave propagating in a random medium and the preparation of an extensive discussion of the applications of multiple-scattering theories in the analysis of the effects of atmospheric turbulence in radar, imaging, communication, and detection systems.
