On Determinants and the Pade Table.

Abstract

The thesis is concerned with the Pade table for particular functions. For each, two theorems are given in which the Pade numerators and Pade denominators are expresses as quotients of certain determinants. Depending on the location in the table, one theorem is preferred over the other in finding the Pade approximant under consideration. Further, some identities are established between certain determinants whose elements are coefficients of a power series and certain determinants, of generally different order, whose elements are coefficients of the reciprocal series. Such identities are used to evaluate several specific persymmetric and nearly persymmetric determinants of arbitrary order. (Author)
