Effect of Dry Friction Forces in the Gyro Gimbal Joint of the Motion of a Free Gyro,

Abstract

A derivation is given of expressions describing the motion of a free gyro of specific design in a static coordinate system in the presence of dry friction in the flexible inner gimbal joint. Particular attention is given to the case of weak damping. The Lagrange method is applied to derive the equations of motion. (Author)
