A Rotary Viscometer,

Abstract

The viscosimeter is intended primarily for the measurement of viscoplastic media. It is simple in use and permits automatic in flow measurement. The viscosimeter consists of a bell type measuring element and a circular process surface, connected to a drive. In the present design this surface consists of two cylinders, each of which is connected to the drive independently. The measuring bell is placed in the gap between the two cylinders. A round guiding tray is used to supply fluid to the gap, which is drained again through a funnel and a collector. During the measurement of Newtonian fluids both the cylinders rotate in the same direction, and at the same speed, while during the measurement of viscoplastic media they are connected to the drive differently, and rotate in opposite directions and at different speeds.
