Technological Means of Ensuring High Structural Strength of Welded Containers Made from Thin-Sheet High-Strength Steels,

Abstract

The document is concerned with the approximation of structural strength of a real container to the maximum strength of an ideal container. Hydrostatic buckling is used to test thin-walled welded containers made from high-strength materials. The technology for manufacturing these containers the authors say should include: reducing the irregularity of physical properties in the weld zone, eliminating stress concentrators there also, and reducing the sensitivity of the base metal to the presence of stress concentrators.
