Study of Gas Flow in the Lubricant Layer of a Gas Static Bearing,

Abstract

The carrying capacity of a gas static bearing depends on the pressure in the lubricating layer at known initial parameters (pressure and temperature) of the gas and on the bearing dimensions. Experimental and theoretical investigations were carried out to determine the pressure distribution in the lubricating layer, to obtain analytical functions for engineering calculations, and to evaluate the performance of the designed bearings. The findings and detailed design recommendations are given. (Author)
