The Use of a Statistical Method for the Analysis of Thin-Walled Sheet Joints,

Abstract

The author examines the possibility of applying statistical methods to an analysis of the dispersion of the strength indices of widely-used thin aluminum-alloy sheets joined together by spot welding. Based on the statistical method used and the determined relationships and parameter variations of the materials, an attempt is made at determining the numerical characteristics of the distribution to curve, leading to a determination of the minimum destructive load. The results of the computations for the minumum destructive load are plotted, and the resultant curve is compared with previous results obtained experimentally. (Author)
