Field Investigation of Gunner Aiming Error as a Function of Launcher Weight

Abstract

The report presents a field investigation of aiming error as a function of launcher weight and tracking rate for manportable air defense system applications. The effects of launcher weights of 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 pounds, and tracking rates of below 1, 1 to 4, 4 to 7, and above 7 degrees/second are examined in terms of aiming error at the point of uncage.
