Interaction of Radiation and Matter.

Abstract

The report contains a summarization of the following efforts: Propagation through turbulent atmospheres in which a new method for obtaining exact analytical expressions for some statistical functions of an optical wave propagating through a randomly turbulent medium was obtained; Nonlinear optics statistics in which the necessary quantum field formalism needed to evaluate the average number of photons in the various modes as well as their variances was developed; Cadmium telluride as a window and electrooptical material in which the electrooptic properties and the optical losses of CdTe were measured; Electrooptic control in integrated optics; Phenomena in High Gain Lasers; and Mode Locking by Kerr (Optically Nonlinear) Liquids.
