Paramagnetic Resonance Studies of Y2O3, CeO2, and ThO2.

Abstract

Electron spin resonance investigations of paramagnetic point defects in single crystals of Y2O3, CeO2 and ThO2 are reported. Centers which were present in the as grown crystals as well as those induced by low temperature, uv irradiation were studied. In some cases, the bleaching of uv induced centers was correlated with thermoluminescence peaks of the same sample. Models for some of the uv induced centers are proposed and theoretical calculations of the g-values were carried out. (Author)
