Analysis and Design of a Non-Contact Potentiometer.

Abstract

The report describes the effort to develop an optical potentiometer. A summary of a theoretical analysis (TR-1364), on which much of the work is based, is presented. Work done in FY 69 and FY 70 is also summarized and work in FY 71 is detailed. The theoretical and practical problems, and solutions are discussed. Areas covered in detail are the photoelement, light/lens system, mechanical, and electrical interfacing. Drawings and fabrication steps are enclosed detailing the FY 71 model. Recommendations for improvement of future models are made. (Author)
