Supplemental Global Climatic Data: January

Abstract

The global distributions of the surface albedo for January, the planetary albedo for January, and the total precipitation for December, January, and February are presented as a supplement to the January data previously published (Schutz and Gates, 1971). A number of refinements of the high- latitude sea-surface temperature data have also been made, and the revised global January distribution is given. All data are presented on a global grid of 4-deg latitude and 5-deg longitude, as in the past, and are given in the form of both tabulated values and machine-analyzed maps. These data will be used as a guide in Rand's evaluation of climate simulations based on the Mintz-Arakawa general circulation model.
